Manual coffee machine: The importance of pressure

Pressure plays an essential role in making quality espresso. A pressure of nine bars (9 bars) is recommended to best extract the flavors and aromas of your favorite specialty coffee, while promoting the formation of the crema. Adequate pressure also allows for optimal extraction time, typically between 25 and 30 seconds. The pressure, combined with other parameters such as the grind and the coffee dose, contributes to obtaining a perfectly balanced espresso.

FAQs

To prepare your specialty coffee with the ROK GC lever espresso maker, it is recommended to use a fine grind, similar to fine salt. The coffee grind must be fine enough to allow optimal extraction of flavors. A grind that is too coarse will result in a lack of pressure in the lever arm while extracting your espresso shot. Which would not give your coffee enough time to brew properly.

The ROK GC manual espresso coffee maker is an exceptional object, due to its design and the quality of the coffee it prepares. A beautiful machine deserves the best! We therefore recommend a grand cru coffee like Araku Grande Réserve. A specialty coffee among the highest rated in the world by the SCA (Speciality Coffee Association). In a ristretto version with the ROK GC manual coffee maker, Grande Réserve coffee develops complex notes of yellow and red fruits, caramel, vanilla and leather.

To maintain your ROK GC espresso coffee maker, cleaning is child's play. Simply remove the portafilter by turning it to the right, discard the coffee grounds (or recycle them) and gently rinse the body to remove any coffee residue. You can wash it with soapy water from time to time, but be careful, do not put your ROK GC espresso machine in the dishwasher.
